Site plan
The goal was to create a future-proof response that reconnects Civic Square with its natural history as a wetland. I aimed to reintroduce nature into the urban environment while encouraging people to slow down, take mental breaks, and engage with the space beyond just passing through. The design encourages a balance between movement and pause, offering moments of calm within a busy city.

Site analysis, biophysical, regulatory and mechanical
To achieve this, I elevated circulation paths above a reimagined wetland. Inspired by the High Line in New York, these walkways offer both direct routes for commuters and smaller stopping points for rest and reflection. Integrated play areas create spaces for children and youth to gather and engage, while elevated viewing platforms provide new perspectives of the city from above. A key element of the plan is the visual and physical connection from the city to the sea—maintaining sightlines and walkways that draw people toward the waterfront, reinforcing the relationship between nature, urban life, and movement.
